CHICKEN A LA KING

Chicken a la King is similar to chicken pot pie, but a little fancier. You can make the filling ahead of time (even freeze it) and just heat it up and bake the shells the day of.

CHICKEN A LA KING

1/4 c. butter
1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chicken broth
1 c. milk
2 c. diced, cooked chicken
1/2 green pepper
1/2 can corn
3 oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
1/4 c. chopped, canned pimento
Puff pastry shells

Melt the butter in a large sauce pan. Blend in flour and salt to make a rue. Add the chicken broth and milk at once. Cook stirring constantly until bubbly. Add the chicken, mushrooms, pimento, pepper and corn. Heat through.

Prepare the puff pastry shells as directed on the box. Serve filling over pastry shells.
